Reporting to the Operations and Financial / Administration Manager you will be responsible for a broad portfolio of duties where the primary / initial drive is to ensure that the product costings through various processes are accurate, that the company has adequate margins, and that pricing adjustments are sensitively communicated to the customer when needed, and that new prices are accurately installed within their systems. Update all cost elements (materials and fixed costs) within existing spreadsheets; Review margins at least monthly by tracking of variable and fixed costs Vs selling prices and re-price as needed; With agreement of Marketing, confirm new prices, submit to customers, and defend / negotiate as required; Assist / motivate any improvements to existing costing systems. Coupled with costing successful incumbent will also be responsible for financial accounting functions.

Minimum qualification and experience:

  • Matric
  • Degree in Cost and Management Accounting and or Financial Accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Cost/ Financial Accountant or similar experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and understanding of transactions.
  • Experience in dealing with financial transactions and costings in different currencies.
  • Experience in reconciling General Ledger Accounts and reports.
  • Proficient in the use of the MS Office Suite.
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience in working on Pastel accounting software.
  • Experience with landed cost tracking and imports.

Diploma / NQF level 6 (Diploma course of 1 to 3 years) with 2 years experience in the full creditors reconciliation function using Syspro. Should you be successful your KPA’s require you to:

  • Ensuring that payroll is run within the time frames and deadlines.
  • Review and process employee hours submitted by various stores.
  • Entering and updating employee information into payroll system. As well as update payroll system with employee movements.
  • Capturing hours worked, leave, overtime of employees. And processing of deductions (PAYE, UIF, skills, provident fund, funeral benefits etc.)
  • Month End payroll reconciliation and processing, reporting and administration.
  • Ensuring that all payments for the various deductions are correct.

Senior Bookkeeper

Our client is seeking to appoint a Senior Bookkeeper who will handle the day-to-day processing of transactions as well as month-end functions of balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns and intercompany invoicing. This role will support the Financial Manager and Management. The role will include the month-end processing for various companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing of monthly creditors invoices and making payments.
  • Performing creditors reconciliations and ensuring timely payments to creditors.
  • Monthly debtors invoicing and receipting.
  • Performing intercompany billing monthly.
  • Monitoring the debtor’s age analysis and ensuring timeous collections.
  • Processing monthly cashbook transactions and performing bank reconciliations.
  • Processing monthly journals and closing accounting modules in Syspro at month-end.
  • Recording stock purchased and clearing the GRN account monthly.
  • Processing monthly fixed asset entries and performing reconciliations to ensure that entries have been posted correctly, all assets have been loaded correctly and that the system reports the balance to the ledger.
  • Submitting monthly VAT returns, performing VAT reconciliations and providing audit schedules when requested.
  • Performing monthly reconciliations of the balance sheet accounts and bringing any issues to management’s attention timeously.
  • Reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval before presenting for payment.
  • Verifying entries and comparing system reports to statements.
  • Maintaining accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Managing the petty cash and credit cards.
  • Preparing and posting monthly journals.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and presenting these to management.
  • Assessing the reasonability of municipal account statements, querying accounts with the Municipality for charges which appear unreasonable.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University Accounting Degree.
  • Experience in working on Syspro advantageous.
  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting environment.
