COST / FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to the Operations and Financial / Administration Manager you will be responsible for a broad portfolio of duties where the primary / initial drive is to ensure that the product costings through various processes are accurate, that the company has adequate margins, and that pricing adjustments are sensitively communicated to the customer when needed, and that new prices are accurately installed within their systems. Update all cost elements (materials and fixed costs) within existing spreadsheets; Review margins at least monthly by tracking of variable and fixed costs Vs selling prices and re-price as needed; With agreement of Marketing, confirm new prices, submit to customers, and defend / negotiate as required; Assist / motivate any improvements to existing costing systems. Coupled with costing successful incumbent will also be responsible for financial accounting functions.
Minimum qualification and experience:
- Matric
- Degree in Cost and Management Accounting and or Financial Accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Cost/ Financial Accountant or similar experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and understanding of transactions.

FINANCE & ADMIN CLERK (BOOKKEEPER)
OVERVIEW OF POST:
The main responsibility of the Finance & Administration Clerk is to render an effective and efficient bookkeeping service and financial administrative function within the Finance Section of SA Library for the Blind (SALB). This function will also support the Admin Support Officer, SCM Officer and project sections within the SALB with regards to financial matters and processes.
Key Tasks (the list is not exhaustive):
- Custodian of petty cash, including safekeeping, replenishing, record-keeping and petty cash reconciliations.
- Receive, check and process creditor invoices for payment once all payment documents are verified correct and accurate. Keep updated debtor and creditor recons and records.
- Attend to international creditor and license payments.
- Capture creditor payments and debtor receipts into the Accounting System from physical records and from the bank statement.
- Maintain the cash book, creditors ledger, general ledger and the trial balance.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliation
- Keep an accurate and effective filing system of accounting records.
- Asset management.
- Assist the SCM Officer with ordering processes and recordkeeping of orders for the SALB
- Maintaining records, proper filing of accounting records and documentation.
- Assisting in the internal and external audit process including retrieving documentation to support the auditing process.
- General office support in relation to financial management matters.
Minimum Requirements:
- A completed (SAQA accredited NQF-6 or higher-level) Diploma/Degree in Financial Accounting/ Cost and Management Accounting/ Financial Management, or related financial field, coupled with;
- at least 2 years bookkeeping or accounting work experience.
- Good working knowledge of the following Acts, prescripts and standards: PFMA; National Treasury Regulations; GRAP; IFRS.
- Excellent knowledge of financial accounting systems.
- Ability and experience to perform the full accounting function up to and including Trial Balance.
The following competencies will be advantageous:
- Work experience in a financial role within the Public Sector.
- Excellent working knowledge of the SAGE PASTEL Accounting system
- Having completed a set of Annual Financial Statements for a Public Sector organization.
- Knowledge (training) in POPI Act and PAIA
- Knowledge and exposure to Internal and external audit processes within government.
- SCM Acts and Prescripts; PPPFA and related prescripts; BBBEE regulatory prescripts

Key Responsibilities:
- Processing of monthly creditors invoices and making payments.
